TRM Offers New Xray Service

TRM has recently invested in a X-Tec X-Ray machine and now offer a subcontract service.  If you are manufacturers of components or assemblies incorporating electronic components TRM Electronics LTD offers an in-house test center with a free a starter demonstrations to new clients

Affordable X-Ray Service
Our x-ray system is a five axis manipulator, 220mm x-ray intensifier and high resolution video system is carried out by experienced application engineers. These specialists can offer advice and solutions if a fault is detected in the material under inspection.  Results can be supplied as .tif or jpg files on CD or DVD ROM by our test engineer at our inspection test centre.

XRAY Specifications
Our system is fitted with our Reflection Target X-Ray source primarily aimed at the Semiconductor Packaging market for Package Void inspection.

  •     5 µm Focal Spot Reflection Target X-Ray Source, 25 - 160 kV, 0 - 500 µA (non continuous) 60 Watt
  •     5kg Capacity 3 axis fully programmable manipulator, 2kg capacity Tilt and Rotate
  •     Attachment gives 5 fully programmable axes
  •     Maximum scan area 350 x 530mm (310 x 500mm with Tilt and Rotate Attachment)
  •     Geometric Magnification up to: 100x
  •     System Magnification up to: 250x
  •     Feature recognition: down to 1 micron
  •     External Cabinet Dimensions: 1060mm L, 1350mm D, 1955mm H
  •     Full system control and image processing software

Image of a BGA under test The x-ray is ideal for testing many joint profiles especially BGA and MBGA. The PCB board under test is not limited to only a TOP fixed plane image slice but our x-ray image can be rotated in the X & Y coordinates to pin point an area that needs to be tested.
